The number 18 and the Pearls of Life

Rev. Lönnebo, have you yourself discovered any new dimensions of the Pearls of Life?

It is more whimsical than I thought when I made it. For example, it has 18 beads. A scholar in the Netherlands wrote to me and told me that in the Old Testament the word for life is the same as the word for the number 18.

Curious to know more about that???

All the letters of the Hebrew alphabet have a numerical value attached to them. Aleph is 1, Bet is 2, Yud is 10, etc. The Hebrew word for “life” is “chai.” That’s chet (8) and yud (10). Thus 18 stands for the “chai” or “life.” (From Jewish Boston)
